Important Notice

The Blackwood Press is NOT associated with Blackwood Press, or known as Blackwood.press. Neither are we related or apart of Erik the Black and the Blackwood Press (No blood relations, I promise) or even Blackwood Press Publishing & Author Jewles Blackwood (Again, no blood relations). These are independent bodies of publishers, please double check if you are in the right place.

Overview

The Blackwood Press is an independent publishing house, established in 2026. The Blackwood Press does not have a physical site. Instead, we have opted to focus on eBooks while working out solutions for POD through local prints.

Mission Statement

The Blackwood Press is a book publishing company that focuses on books. But not just any books, we are honing in on the ones that have potential to be interesting. In this day and age, with thousands of books being published every day, we made it an initiative to help pick up where publishers of old like DAW Books or Del Ray have left behind. We want to provide readers with something that grabs their attention, perfect or imperfect. Reading is about leading and learning, never about the perfection of the words but what can be conveyed. Get in touch!

Our Values

Fostering creativity, because in this day and age there is not enough space to allow that to happen. But that is why we exist, to build that platform so others may stand with us. It’s small now, but in time we hope to see it grow.

On AI and Writing

We as a publishing press want to be open and clear about the usage of AI in our work. It is to be encouraged for writers to disclose how AI was used in their work, from research to even generation.
In terms of text generation, we do not condone it. But we make sure that authors who use it must try to limit it. For those learning the crafts or still green behind the ear, it can serve as an important tool in teaching them the basics of writing. To understand style, genre, perspective, prose and editing.
Most important, this must be disclosed to the customers. At the end of the day, the customers will judge and decide on the content of the book. They deserve to know. Wherever our books are sold, there has to be a disclaimer on the web pages and inside the book. Again, this is important in building a healthy and honest relationship with customers, and improves our society in valuing the truth.
There has been development of symbols and logos to be attached to books, as well as other publishers demanding disclosure of AI usage in manuscripts before they even look at it. But for our small press, we want to make it clear to the customers that we value them. As for the authors, in respect of how they use AI they too need to respect their skills. We hope to see a bright side in the AI tools other than outright replacing writers, but we go with an approach where writers who use it should make it a priority to slowly step away from the tools once they grow confident in their writing skills. Like how one rides a bike with training wheels on, one day they will be taken off.

Every alliance is a trap. Every ally is a liability. And the ranger code she has lived by her entire life is the one thing that could get her killed. She swore to protect the survivors. AUTHORS

Dan Archer

Dan Archer is an odd fellow. A fan of all things apocalyptic and pulpy, he figured one day he would write his own book about it. He didn't have the skill nor the big fancy awards to prove his writing. But he had a dream and determination to make it happen. Let's just say that Dan wants to write, because he loves it. Even when he was bogged down with the new shiny tools on today's market. In the end, he figured he just likes to write. If the apocalypse comes tomorrow, Dan might find himself writing even more! Apart from writing, Dan loves his long walks and talking with random animals. And staring at the stars when the sky is clear.

ATOMSHOCK: Death on the Grand Bravo

Out in the sun, a black speck drifted across the empty landscape of death and decay. But behind it, colors of the old world billowed in the wind. The Man with the Ragged Old Flag is what they called him. He preferred Sage.Sage didn't have much else going on. Other than riding with his trusty horse Lilly and surviving the wasteland.Life in the post-nuclear world was brutal. And it didn't help that he wasn't exactly human looking either. Not anymore. But, Sage made do with it. That was until he found a dead body by the river. He figured there was only one thing to do: Take it to the nearest town and have it properly buried.Yet in a whirlwind of events, he found himself falsely arrested and charged for the murder of a famous politician. From a new nation that had risen from the ashes of the apocalypse. Sage is left with two choices: Aid the Sheriff and his posse to finding the real killer — or hang by the noose.
